How does the cervical vertebrae help us during sport
Cervical 1- axlas (to nod)
Cervical 2 - axis (to turn/shake head)
SUPPORTS the head
For example: Allows us to turn our head to see our opponent.
How does the thoracic vertebrae help us during sport
Helps us to BREATHE , as they’re connected to the RIBS. For example a marathon/ long distance runner will need oxygenated blood to PREVENT MUSCLES FROM FATIGUING QUICKLY.
How does the lumbar vertebrae help us during sport
They’re BIG and very POWERFUL . Allows us to TWIST AND BEND our back. Also bares most of our BODYWEIGHT. For example, this allows us to turn quickly when dribbling past opponents more easily.
What the function of the sacrum vertebrae
Allows MUSCLES TO ATTACH - mostly the glutes
What’s the coccyx vertebrae
These are the remains of our tail and helps our spinal cord
