A

Transport:

  • Network of motorways (M25)
  • 4 major airports (Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, Stanstead)
  • Ports ( Southampton, Tilbury)

Market and Labour:

  • Large market (19 million people for goods and services)
  • Skilled local labour force (Oxbridge and London universities)

Politics:
- Close to decision making centre (national government)

Geographical:

  • Region is close to Chanel Tunnel, giving access to Europe
  • Rail and road networks centre on and radiate out form London
