Commercial Areas
A
- Mostly in the CBD
- Little open space
- Retail parks on the rural-urban fringe
- Most accessible area of a city (easy transport access)
- Large land demand so housing is built up and is expensive

Industrial Areas
A
- Away from the city centre (usually in the inner city or the city edge)
- Close to transport links (rails, motorways, ports)
- New industries built in these areas
- Industries rely on transport so they’re relatively close to city where transport is easily accessible

Residential Area
A
- Mostly in the suburbs where land is cheaper
- Older residential areas have 19th century terraced houses/semi detached houses
- 21st century residential areas are mostly apartments
- Houses nearer the suburbs are bigger with gardens (cheap land allows more space)

A
Old industrial or inner-city sites that are cleared for new building development

A
Areas of land that haven’t been developed previously
