What did the Germans expect?
A
A ceasefire: war had ended as a ‘draw’ (because the German army was still in France)

A
They couldn’t attend/voice they opinion and they had to sign the treaty or war.

- No union with Austria (Anschluss)
- 3million Germans now in Czechoslovakia (were in Sudetenland)

Why did the Germans hate the treaty so much?
A
- Huge reparations meant ‘economic slavery’
- ‘Self-determination’ not applied to Germans
- Only country made to disarm
- Humiliated, lost their greatness (army)
- Disagreed with article 231
- Treated as if they lost/surrendered
