Who were the leaders at the Paris conference?
Woodrow Wilson, Clemenceau, George Lloyd and Orlando.
Who was Wilson?
He was the US president, he was an idealist, and a reformer. He also was stubborn.
Who was George Lloyd?
He was the British Prime Minister, he was a realist and he was willing to compromise.
Who was Clemenceau?
He was the French Prime Minister, he also was an uncompromising politician. He wanted to take revenge on Germany.
What did Wilson want?
He wanted to establish peace. Wilson believed that Germany should be punished, but not so much that Germany should feel revengeful. He also wanted to strengthen democracy in defeated countries, to give self determination in small countries, and to set up the league of nations.
Did George Lloyd agree with Wilson?
He agreed on Germany, also because he wanted that Britain and Germany should start trading with each other again. However, he wanted that Germany should lose its navy and its colonies, so that the British Empire could not be threatened. He also disagreed with Wilson about the colonies, as he wanted to keep them.
Did Clemenceau agree with Wilson?
He strongly disagreed on Germany, as he wanted to cripple Germany. Clemenceau showed his awareness to public opinion in France.

They disagreed on what to do with the Saarland and the Rhineland.
Where did Clemenceau clash with George Lloyd?
They disagreed on where to punish Germany. As Britain only wanted to treat Germany harshly outside of Europe (for its own interest). But France wanted to punish Germany in Europe, so that they could not be threatened again.

Lloyd wanted to keep colonies and keep its rule on the seas.

Germany had accept all of the war guilt.

Germany had to pay reparations : £6.6 billions.
What was the third main point of the Treaty?
Germany lost territory and colonies. It lost 13% of it European territory. The Saarland was given to the league of Nations, and after 15 years there would be a plebiscite. And all the colonies were taken away.
What was the fourth main point of the Treaty?
Germany was forbidden the Anschluss with Austria.
What was the fifth main point of the Treaty?
The army was reduced :
