The Subtalor Joint Flashcards
Movements?
Eversion and inversion
Articulating bones
Inferior surface of Talus and superior surface of calcaneus
Three ligaments
Posterior talocalcaneal ligament
Medial talocalcaneal ligament
Lateral talocalcaneal ligament
Posterior talocalcaneal ligament origin and insertion
from the posterolateral tubercle of the talus to the superomedial aspect of the calcaneus.
Medial talocalcaneal ligament origin and insertion
between the medial aspects of talar tubercle and calcaneus and the posterior aspect of sustentaculum tali.
Lateral talocalcaneal ligament origin and insertion
spans between the lateral talar process to the lateral calcaneal surface and calcaneofibular ligament. It lies deep to the calcaneofibular ligament.
Interosseous talocalcaneal ligament
Binds the talus and calcaneous together. maintaining stability both at rest and during active movements. pronation of the foot, limiting its movement.
