How did stalins government include some democratic structure… how did we no he wanted the one party state

A

He fought against a coalition government in 1917
Forced the closure of the constituent assembly in 1918

  • democratic - universal suffrage. It was clear that the communists party and its institutions were the only bodies that could put candidates up for election.

A

Prison camp system
Attacked - SRs, Mensheviks and bruzhui and carried out non violent purges of his party, leading to the expulsion of 150,000 party members in 1921.

A

Killed people in his party
Made them stand up and give public confessions
In the Stalinist plugged the OGPU and the NKVD arrest millions of ordinary citizens and 600,000 party members were executed.

Britain in iron and steel production and was not far behind Germany.

  • bureaucrats were so set on reaching the over exaggerated targets that its all they cared about.

How was the central planning system

A

Inefficient and organisation at a local level was at times chaotic and not helped by stalins purges of specialists and managers. Inefficient attention paid to modern farming techniques and limited use of agricultural machinery.

How had communist control in the country side grown stronger

A

Socialist communal values had been put into place.
Peasants were living and working in the kolkhoz and firmly under the supervision of the party officials. Also watched by the NKVD stationed at each motor tractor station. Increased urbanisation and the massive expansion of town population helped create a strong working class, the backbone of the communist state.

A

Most senior officers had been removed
Society fighting capacity had been effected by inadequate training and those who had promoted more advanced military theories
Lack of military initiative
Deficiencies in the quality and quantity of equipment
Soviets were suddenly expected to fight there former allies.
