Epidermis
A
Thick top layer of skin that provides protective barrier and a waterproof layer, also reduces the harmful effects of UV radiation

Dermis
A
Thickest layer of skin that gives it strength and flexibility, glands and hair follicles are found here

Subcutaneous tissue
A
Acts as an insulator and contains larger blood vessels and nerves

Sweat gland
A
To form fluid (sweat) which controls body temperature - thermoregulation

Sebaceous (oil) gland
A
Produces oil (sebum) which moisturises and protects the skin against friction
