What does the “crucifixion” part of the Sorrowful mysteries represent to Catholics?
-Jesus was nailed to the cross and left to die, he spoke to his mother Mary as he was dying
-“they crucified him”
Why is the Rosary important to Catholics?
-praying the sorrowful mysteries help Catholic’s value Christ’s sacrifice more knowing and reflecting on the fact God humbled himself by becoming man and dying on the cross
-As Mary was present as many of the events of the mysteries, praying the Rosary is a devotion that honours Mary and provides Catholic with a way to intercede for them e.g. they May Day the Hail Mary (“pray for us sinners now”)
-The rosary can help Catholics focus more during prayer as they meditate on the mysteries. This can help deepen their faith and strengthen their relationship with God
