When the patient requests to die. Normally because they are in so much pain that they want to be put out of their misery
What is non-voluntary euthanasia
Occurs when the person is unable to make the choice normally because they are unconscious however they may be severely mentally handicapped or too young to understand. Therefore an appropriate person would take the decision on their behalf.
What is involuntary euthanasia
Where the patient actually chooses life over death but is killed anyway. This is usually murder but sometimes it is still the right thing to do
