Q

What is oxygen debt?

A
  • After intense exercise - to break down the lactic acid.
  • O2 needed to oxidise lactic acid —> CO2.
  • Deep, heavy breathing aft yer exercise to repay debt.
  • Only occurs with anaerobic exercise!

Q

What is the equation for minute ventilation?

A

Tidal volume x breathing rate = minute ventilation

TV x f = VE

Q

What happens in the respiratory system during exercise?

A

The rate of breathing gets faster (increases) & depth of breathing also increases and allows more air in.

Q

How does the respiratory system work with the cardio vascular system?

A
  • Work together to increase o2 supply & remove CO2 efficiently O2 in CO2 out = gaseous exchange.
  • The more efficient the cardiovascular & respiratory systems, the - longer
  • more intensely
    You can train/exercise

Q

What happens in sport in the respiratory system?
