What causes the release of ADH
A
An excess of water is ingested, triggering hypothalamic osmoreceptors to fire and the release of ADH from the posterior pituitary. ADH then acts on the collecting ducts in the nephron to decrease H2O reabsorption and therefore increase H2O excretion.
