Who was Stresemann?
Gustav Stresemann was the chancellor in Germany during the ‘Golden Age’, 1923 onwards.
What was the Dawes Plan?
Stresemann persuaded France, Britain, and America to lessen Germany’s payments, evacuate the Ruhr, and for USA to give loans to Germany.
What was the Rentenmark?
A temporary currency introduced by Stresemann in 1923.
What was the Young Plan?
In 1929, reparations were cut greatly, from £6600 million to £1850 million.
What was the Locarno Pact?
In 1925, Germany signed with other European countries to keep existing borders between Germany, Belgium, and France.
What is Germany’s relation with the League of Nations?
In 1926, Germany joined the League of Nations, confirming their healed relations, return to power, and helping to start the Young Plan.
What was the Kellogg-Briand Pact?
In 1928, Germany, and 64 other countries agreed to only keep armies for self-defence purposes.

Hindenburg was elected president in Germany in 1925.
What parties were supported during the Golden Age in Germany?
Moderate parties, like the Social Democrats. Extremist parties, such as the Nazis, were lesser supported.

Living standards improved, wages increased, housing was cheaper, women were given the vote, there was equality in education and employment, art and theatre prospered.
What was the Unemployment Insurance Law?
In 1927, workers were required to contribute to a national scheme, helping the unemployed, veterans, widows, single mothers, and the disabled.
What issues were still troubling Germany in the Golden Age?
They were very dependant on the USA’s loans, and many culture changes were limited to Berlin.
