How did the USA’s economic crash impact Germany?
German businesses went bankrupt, and unemployment rose. This lead people to turn to extreme parties : Nazis and Communists.
Who was Josef Goebbels?
A Nazi in charge of propaganda.
What was the SA?
Set up in 1921, the Stormtroopers were an armed group of ex-military who were to protect Nazi speakers. The group was led by Ernst Röhm.
What was the SS?
An elite Nazi squad who acted as Hitler’s bodyguards, led by Heinrich Himmler.
What were Hitler’s beliefs?
Promoted the idea of ‘bread and work’, anti-semitism, hated the Weimar and the Treaty or Versailles.
What was happening to communism in Germany?
Germany opposed communism, including the Nazis and Hitler.
What was Hitler and Von Papen’s relationship?
Von Papen helped Hindenburg, and both wanted to beat Von Schleicher. Although he believed Hitler’s ideas were extreme, he worked with Hitler to ensure beating Von Schleicher, making Hitler Chancellor as Von Papen believed he could control him.
