A
Proteolytic enzymes: breaks down intracellular proteins
Phagocytes: disposal of elastic/fibrous tissue

A
Decidua shed as lochia
Occurs as a result of collapsed blood vessels

What is lochia?
A
It is a characteristic postnatal discharge that reflects the process of involution and the restoration of the endometrium.
Mean duration: 21-33 days might vary with multips and also with smaller babies
