Selling of sacraments
Sold by the Catholic Church, said to make people more holy or to worship God.
Indulgences
Pieces of paper sold by the Catholic Church, thought to forgive all sins and guarantee that person gets into heaven.
Relics
Items used to grow closer to God, such as a body part of a saint.
Martin Luther
A priest who was the first person to question the power and legitimacy of the Catholic Church. He nailed the 95 theses to the door of the church.
95 Theses
Things Martin Luther debated with the Catholic Church that were nailed to the door of the church. These were posted mostly because of the concern of selling indulgences.
Protestant Reformation
A religious movement that resulted in people separating from the Roman Catholic Church, and the creation of a new branch of Christianity (Protestantism).
German Bible
Also known as the Luther Bible, it was a Bible translated into German by Martin Luther.
Counter Reformation
The Catholic Church opposing the Protestant Church’s beliefs and an effort to get people to go back to the Catholic Church.
Inquisition
The Catholic Church punishing any non orthodox beliefs.
