Deutsche Arbeitsfront (DAF) set up May 6th 1933 and headed by Robert Ley Workers were represented in one national body - it was the largest organisation in the 3rd Reich and membership increased from 5 million in 1933, to 22 million in 1939

Mittelstand favoured the Law to Protect Retail Trade in 1933 which placed special taxes on large stores and new department stores
