Q

Who developed the first periodic table and when?

A
  • 1865, Newlands put 56 elements into groups and saw that every 8th element had similar properties
  • Wasn’t accepted until 50 years later

Q

Who developed Newlands periodic table?

A
  • 1869, Mendeleev arranged elements in order in a table and noticed periodic changes in properties.
  • Saw gaps in pattern and predicted new elements would be found.
  • 1891, table still didn’t contain noble gases
