- He entertained Odysseus and his men during their stay
- Odysseus asked for his help in returning to Ithaca
- The king gifted him a leather bag of winds, leaving out only the wind needed to take Odysseus to Ithaca
- Odysseus put the bag on his ship

- As the crew are within sight of Ithaca Odysseus falls asleep for the first time in many days
- His men foolishly open the bag, thinking that it contains treasure
- By opening the bag the men released the wind trapped inside, pushing the all the way back to Aeolia
- Aeolus refuses to help Odysseus a second time as he believes that Odysseus is forsaken by the gods

Once the men arrived on the island of Aeaea…[5]:
- They decided to explore so Odysseus divided his men into 2 groups
- Odysseus led one of the groups and Eurylochus led the other
- Eurylochus’ group encountered a palace and they heard a melodic voice, beckoning them to come inside
- The men shouted for the women to open the door and she complied
- The men entered the place but Eurylochus stayed behind, suspicious of the strange woman

- He warned Odysseus and advised him to flee the island
- Odysseus instead chose to lead the rest of men to rescue the others
- Eurylochus refused to and advised the men to not follow the man who caused the death of many of his comrades
- Odysseus and his men went anyways, Eurylochus reluctantly following behind
Why was Eurylochus advising the men against return to Circe’s palace a problem for Odysseus?
