Who is Eurylochus?
One of Odysseus’ men; prominent in the events that lead to Odysseus meeting Circe
Penelope [3]:
- The loving wife of Odysseus
- Often referred to as ‘Wise Penelope’
- Telemachus’ mother
Telemachus [2]:
- Odysseus’ son
- The fact that he was almost able to string the bow in book_ shows that he is his father’s son and demonstrates the power of Odysseus’ bloodline
Eurycleia [3]:
- Odysseus’ nurse
- One of the only servants in the household that remained loyal to odysseus
- She was the first person to recognise Odysseus on his return
Eumaeus [2]:
- The Swineherd
- He was loyal to odysseus and helped him reclaim his household
Philoetius [2]:
- The Cowherd
- He assist Odysseus in his return to Ithaca and stand with the king and prince against the suitors
Antinous and Eurymachus [2]:
- The two leading suitors
- They differ in that Antinous is more physically aggressive while Eurymachus is a smooth talker
Melanthius [3]:
- Goatherd
- He is disloyal to Odysseus
- His grim death represents the fact that those who betray their masters will be given a terrible ending
