What were the positives of the New Deal?

A

Positives:
After 1934 there were no more bank failures in America.
200,000 African Americans gained jobs in the CCC.
Native Americans were given the right to have their own law court.
Millions of unemployed people were given a job.
Measures were put in place to help prevent farmers being evicted.

What were the negatives of the New Deal?

A

Negatives:
Roosevelt cut back on spending of the New Deal in 1936 because he was worried he would lose votes if he continued spending so much money on job creation.
10% of the population remained unemployed.
Discrimination continued:
African Americans still experienced racism because Roosevelt refused to end discrimination for fear that his votes from the South would be lost.

Why did people oppose the New Deal?

A

Government workers had their wages cut by 15% to save money for the Alphabet Agencies.
Business people didn’t like the raise in taxes or the new rights.
