The Nervous System Flashcards
What are the receptors each of your sense organs contain?
Sensory Neurones - long dendrons and short axons which carry nerve impulses from receptors to the cns.
Relay Neurones - Lots of short dendrons and axons, carry nerve impulses from the sensory neurone to motor neurone.
Motor Neurones - Lots of short dendrons and one long axon carry nerve impulses from cns to effectors.
What is a receptor?
A group of cells which are sensitive to a stimulus. They change stimulus energy into electrical impulses.
What can be a stimulus?
Light, sound, touch, pressure, chemical, position or temperature.
What do reflexes help to do?
Prevent injury
What are your five sense organs?
Eyes, Ears, Nose, Tounge, Skin.
