What does the sternocleidomastoid muscle do?
A
The sternocleidomastoid muscle divides the neck into the anterior and posterior triangle of the neck

A
Just below the tongue is the hyoid bone. It is suspended by the infrahyoid strap muscles.

Describe the blood and arterial supply of the thyroid gland
A
- Blood supply is delivered by the superior thyroid artery – the first branch of the external carotid
- The inferior thyroid artery comes from the subclavian artery and ascends in the root of the neck.
- The recurrent laryngeal nerve runes superiorly in the groove between the trachea and oesophagus. Passes under the arch of aorta.
- Venous drainage of the thyroid is via the superior, middle and inferior thyroid veins
