THE LUNGS Flashcards
Order of lymphaatic vessels in lungs
- SUPERFICIAL & DEEP LYMPH PLEXUS (Visceral pl. + lungs)
- BRONCHOPULMONARY(lung hila entrance)
- TRACHEOBRONCHIAL NODES (bifurcation)
- bronchomediastinal -> bronchomediastinal trunk
- Thoracic duct / Right lymphatic duct
Suprapleural membrane
fascial membrane covering at apex above thoracic inlet. RIGIDITY AND PREVENT DISTORTION (intrathroacic pressure changes)
Bronchopulmonary segments
*each segment has own blood and air supply (pulm artery + bronchi) * 10 segments in. R, 8/9 in L
Layout of RIGHT LUNG ROOT
R:
PULM ARTERY (MIDDLE)
BRONCHI (SIDE)
BRONCHOPULM L NODE
PULM VENIS
LAYOUT OF LEFT LUNG ROOT
L:
PULM ARTERY
BRONCHOPULM LODE
PULM BRONCHUS
PULM VEIN (to side)
Bronchial Circulation
arteries (descending aorta, 3rd right posterior intercostal art.) => lung + airways
2 bronchial arteries - Left,
1 bronchialartery. - Right
BRONCHIAL VEINS:
R bronchial vein -> azygous
L bronchial vein -> hemiazygous
The oblique fissue follows the course of which rib?
6th Rib
The horizontal fissure lies at the level of
4th rib
Posterior border of each lung extends from which vertebral levels?
C7 - T10
Autonomic innervation of lung
Brachial plexus
Parasympathetic innervation of lung
PARASYMPATHETIC: VAGUS NERVE
- MOTOR > BRONCHIAL MUSC (BRONCHOCONSTRICTION)
- SECRETOMOTOR > GLANDS (LARYNGEAL)
- VASODILATOR
Sympathetic innervation of lung
T2 - T5
- inhibitory to bronchial smooth muscles-bronchodilator
- motor to blood vessel smooth muscle
Lymphatic drainage of chest wall
- right lymphatic duct and thoracic duct drain into their respective subclavian vein-internal jugular vein junction at the VENOUS ANGLE => respective brachiocephalic veins
- Cisterna chyli - collects lymphatics from the lower extremities via left and right lateral branches and from the intestinal tract
