the LONG, WIRY & SHORT PULSES Flashcards
the LONG PULSE
extends beyond the cun & chi positions.
&
a LONG pulse thats SOFT means that
UPRIGHT QI IS ABUNDANT
a WIRY PULSE
is a LONG PULSE that feels STIFF & TIGHTLY STRETCHED.
a SHORT PULSE
DOESNT FILL THE CUN position
or
DOESNT FILL THE CHI position
It means DEFICIENCY and DAMAGE of the BLOOD & QI
a LONG pulse means:
GOOD HEALTH or EXCESSIVE CONDITIONS
- This pulse only means disease when COMBINED W/ OTHER QUALITIES*
- it usually means*
- HEALTHY CENTRAL QI*
a WIRY pulse means
that its long, strong & wiry.
MEANS WOOD (liver) DISEASES or WIND DISEASES
- The WIRY PULSE occurs when the QI is UNABLE TO SPREAD PROPERLY soooooooooooo*
- it passes STRAIGHT UNDER THE FINGERS (w/o being felt to rise or fall)*
a SHORT STRONG PULSE means
that there is QI STASIS
(its when blood & qi stagnation, phlegm stag or food accumulation block the qi passage (trachea) so the qi cant extend & the pulse becomes short & strong
a SHORT WEAK PULSE means
there is QI DAMAGE
(when there is insufficient qi to lead the blood the pulse also becomes short but is w/o strength)
