Freedom of the individual, self-help and religious tolerance. Heavily influenced by individuals like John Stuart Mill, Jeremy Bentham, and Walter Bagehot.
What economic policies did they support?
Free trade and the encouragement of free enterprise and industry.
What religious domination were most members of the Liberal party?
Non-conformist.

Lord Palmerston.
When was Gladstone first elected as PM?
1868.
When was Gladstone elected for a second time?

Why did the Party form?
In response to political dominance by the Conservatives led by Lord Derby.
