a Domain name server is a server that holds the names and IP addresses of websites
what are the steps for the DNS process
- user enters the domain name into the browser
- the device contacts the DNS to find the domain name
- if the server returns the IP address to the device
- the device contacts the website using the IP Address
what happens if a DNS server does not have a domain name
the client will try another server
what is meant by hosting
a web hosting service is a provider that hosts clients websites through their own server
why is hosting used (3 reasons)
- they offer facilities to create and maintain websites
