The conditions of the Mills and factories were bad, it was dusty and dangerous.

The streets and waterways were heavily polluted with human waste and garbage.

Workhouse conditions were worse than the lowest living standards of the independent labourers.

A loss of farming as there was much more money to be made in the cities.
