What was the Industrial Revolution?
It was the change from producing goods by hand to producing goods in factories with machines
Where did the Industrial Revolution start?
It started in Great Britain because it had all the resources needed to produce and transport goods

Urbanization
The growth of cities; many people went to get jobs at the factories; a lot of pollution b/c of factory smoke
Bad Working Conditions
working in dangerous conditions for long hours and low pay; Kids were hired and abused in these factories
Formation of Labor Unions
Workers formed labor unions to improve working conditions and pay
Legislation
Gov. passed laws to set minimum wages and stop child labor
Laissez Faire Capitalism
Economic System used during the Industrial Revolution where government shouldn’t be involved in business decisions, shouldn’t own business, and shouldn’t set prices
Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels
They believed that the Laissez Faire Capitalism was bad; they also wrote a book called “Communist Manifesto”
What did Marx’s and Engels book influence?
Their book influenced communism so when countries became communist such as the USSR and China they were inspired by Marx’s and Engels writing
