1868 - 1912
What was the Meiji Restoration?
Emperor Meiji began a rapid (fast) program of modernization and westernization
What happened during Japan Modernization?
Japan industrialized (built factories, machines, roads, communications)
What happened during Japan Westernization?

iron, and lead)
