What was the French Revolution?
It was an event where the people of France overthrew their Absolute Monarch Louis XIV (14th) and fought for more rights

The peasants but they barely had any money
What were the reasons for the French Revolution?
-Only peasants paid taxes
- Absolute Monarchs abused their power and took rights from people
- The Enlightenment influenced the overthrow of Absolute Monarchs
- Economic Crisis: Kings spending too much money and putting France in debt
What was the Declaration of Rights of Man?
A written document that gave equal rights to men and created a fair system of taxation

An event were the leaders of the French Revolution executed the people who were still loyal to the king

What happened to king Louis XIV (14th)?
He was executed by Robespierre and the Jacobins by being beheaded with the guillotine
How was Napoleon Bonaparte?
He became the ruler who came to power at the end of the French Revolution
What did Napoleon Bonaparte do?
He expanded the French territory by conquering neighboring lands in Europe and in doing so he made the French people feel nationalism (pride in their country)
When was Napoleon defeated and why?
He was defeated in 1812 because he made the mistake of invading Russia during the Russian winter and in doing so many of Napoleons soldiers died
