It is situated in the middle of the chest cavity between the lungs, and behind the sternum (breast bone)

To receive oxygenated blood from the lungs and pump it to all cells in the body. To receive deoxygenated blood from the body and pump it to the lungs.

The heart is conical in shape and is a little larger than a fist.
