The heart Flashcards
what is fossa ovalis
an oval depression present on the septum
why are ventricles thicker then arteries
ventricles put a lot of force into pumping blood away from the heart to pulmonary artery and aorta.
what is atrioventricular aperture? what are they guarded by?
The atrioventricular aperture is the point where atrium and ventricular opens up and its guarded by AV valves
what is Coronary sulcus? which are the two of them?
The groove present between atria and ventricle, Anterior and posterior interventricular sulcus.
Name the valve present between left atrium and left ventricle. how many flaps does it consist of?
Known as bicuspid valve/mitral valve/left AV valve. oxygenated blood travels through it, 2 flapped.
where is tricuspid valve. what holds them in place?
Right AV valve are 3 flapped and are present between the right atrium and right ventricle, the chordae tendineae holds them in place preventing them from being forced upwards.
what are the 2 valves present at the base of pulmonary artery and aorta?
The aortic semilunar valve and semilunar valve that prevent back flue of blood, are 3 flapped. blood from the ventricles.
