-Between 1910 and 1920, the black population of major northern cities grew
~New York (66%)
~Chicago (148%)
~Philadelphia (500%)
~Detroit (611%)
1917: 10% of America’s population is African American (90% live in the South
2010:57% live in the South)
Issues that arose in the areas that African-Americans migrated to
-Black migrants replaced white workers as they were prepared to work for less
-Housing tensions (many found it hard to rent due to widespread racism and prejudice)
-Ended up creating new cities within big cities
-KKK on the rise
