Explain Gatsby as the “American Dream”
Gatsby is seen as the “American Dream” in the The Great Gatsby. Gatsby “sprang from his Platonic conception of himself and he is trying to perfect himself to fit others. By changing his name but keeping it similar he shows that he is reinventing himself in his own terms. His childhood all adds to the concept because if the poor child becoming a self made man. Lastly his janitorial job shows his sensitivity to class.
