Q

How did WWI veterans contribute to crime after the war?

A

Many WWI vets, who knew how to use weapons like the Thompson submachine gun, made money off of vice crimes (illegal businesses or products) such as alcohol, prostitution, gambling, racketeering, controlling unions, and selling drugs like cocaine and heroin. Marijuana was legal at the time, and smoke houses became popular.
