The people who consume (watch, play or read) the media
What is demographic profiling based on?
Income and status
What is psychographic profiling based on?
Someone’s personality and interests

Who are mainstreamers?
- Most of society - people who favour products that give them best value for money.
Who are aspirers?
People who:
- Seek status
- Are happy to spend lots of money to keep up with current trends.
Who are explorers?
People who:
1) Like to discover new things
2) Like new experiences
3) Are attracted to innovate/new brands
Who are succeeders?
People who:
1) Have high status
2) Believe they deserve the best products available
Who are reformers?
People who:
1) Are not influenced by status
2) Want to invest in products that are good for themselves/the environment
What is the definition for target audience?
The people who a media product is aimed at
What is the definition for niche?
When a media product is aimed at a specific audience, i.e. a teacher
What is meant by the media term, interactive?
Where people interact with a media product.
