What was agreed at the Potsdam Conference July and August 1945 ?
The Allies agreed to split Germany into four zones ; USA, UK, USSR and France. They also agreed to split Berlin into four groups.
What was the ACC and why was it set up?
The Allied Control Council, was set up as a governing body to oversee all four zones of occupation and make decisions across the zones to keep Germany intact for unification.

- a further 305 badly damaged
- infrastructure had been destroyed
What began to develop between the Allies after the second World War and How did this effect the development of Germany?
A PERMENANT separation began to develop between the Allies after the second World War. this affected Germany’s development by stopping the fact that Germany would ever be unified completely. Also the east and west became increasingly suspicious of each other which further halted Germanys Development.
What was the situation in Eastern Europe by 1948?
By 1948 ALL eastern European states had become communist except Greece.

Identify two reasons that explain why Germany was not reunited after the Second World War?
The Allies never fully trusted the USSR and therefore they excluded them from a lot of things they did which created a divide between east and west.
- Also theAllies continued with their policy of containment after WW2 meaning they were trying to destroy the USSR’s influence and therefore it can be argued they were never going to be able to unify.
