The Eye Flashcards
This deck will explore the anatomical features of the eye.
Choroid
This layer of the eye contains blood vessels which lines the back of the eye and is located between the retina and sclera
Ciliary body
This is a structure in the eye containing muscle and is located behind the iris
Cornea
This layer of the eye is the clear, front window which transmits and focuses light into the eye
Fovea
This part of the eye is in the center of the macula and works to provide sharp vision
Iris
This is the colored part of the eye which helps to regulate the amount of light entering into the pupil
Lens
This part of the eye is transparent and focuses light rays onto the retina
Macula
This are of the eye is located in the retina and contains light sensitive cells, allowing for sharper vision
Optic nerve
This is a bundle of over 1 million nerves which transmits the visual messages from the eye to the brain
Pupil
This part of the eye is the dark circle in the middle of the eye which allows light into the eye
Retina
This layer of the eye lines the back of the eye, it senses light and creates electrical impulses which are sent through the optic nerve to the brain
Sclera
This is the white, outer coat of the eye, surrounding the iris
Vitreous humor
This is the clear, gelatinous substance which fills the central cavity of the eye
Extra ocular muscles
These are the muscles which allow movement of the eye
