The Experimental Method Flashcards
1
Q
What is an aim?
A
- A general statement of what the researcher intends to investigate
- It always starts with To investigate
2
Q
What is a hypothesis and what types of hypothesis are there?
A
- A hypothesis is a clear precise testable statement that states the relationship or difference between two variables that are being investigated. This is stated at the start of any study.
- Null hypothesis: states that there are no differences between two conditions
Alternative hypothesis:
- Directional/one tailed
- non directional/two tailed
3
Q
Write a two tailed hypothesis
A
-There is a difference/relationship in (dependent variable) between (independent variable 1) and (independent variable 2)
4
Q
Write a one tailed hypothesis
A
There is a (increase or decrease/positive relationship or negative relationship) in (dependent variable) for (independent variable 1) than (independent variable 2)
5
Q
Write a null hypothesis
A
There is no difference in (dependent variable) between (independent variable 1) and (independent variable 2)
