3
Q
What correlational coefficient displays a perfect negative, perfect positive and no relationship?
A
Perfect negative relationship = -1.0
Perfect positive relationship = +1.0
No relationship = 0
4
Q
What are the advantages of a correlations?
A
- Allows research to be conducted without manipulating the IV for ethical reasons
- Allows us to make predictions to be made, once a correlation is found we can then predict future relationships
5
Q
What are the disadvantages of correlations?
A
- We cannot establish cause and effect there may be a hidden third variable causing the relationship to occur.
- They don’t measure curvilinear relationships they only measure linear relationships
