What was the government like after the Jacobins?
A
There were 2 elected legislative councils. They then appointed a Directory, an executive of 5 members. This was to safeguard against the power in a one man executive.

A
The Directory often clashed with the legislative councils who then sought to dismiss them. This political instability led to the rise of Napoleon.
