Story of the two robbers
One of the robbers confessed to Jesus that he had sinned and said that he and the other robber deserved to die for their crimes. The robber also acknowledged that Jesus was innocent. Jesus told this robber that they would meet again in Paradise.
On the other hand, the other robber mocked Jesus and didn’t believe he was the Messiah.
The reaction of the crowd
The crowd turned on Jesus and yelled, ‘Crucify Him’ again and again. They spat on him and hurled curse words at him. They said to him that if he is really the Messiah, he should call on angels to save him.
The darkness
At noon the sky went dark and three hours later Jesus cried out, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
The temple curtain
When Jesus took his final breath and died, the temple curtain tore in two. This showed that Jews no longer had to sacrifice animals in order for God to forgive their sins. Jesus became that sacrifice instead.
