“danced…tearing…screaming” Analysis?
Joyful despite their poverty- suggests their household is loving and vibrant (-importance of family over material goods and wealth)
“Eked out” Analysis?
-regardless of the scarcity of their dinner, they are grateful for what they have and are determined to make the most of it- shows their dignity
(will work to make their experience as close to equal as possible=humanising)
“Tremulous…trembled” Analysis?
Emotion and pride towards Tiny Tim
(sympathy from the reader to see this loving family desperately try to deny the brutal truth about their son’s condition and stay strong for him.)???
“Brave in ribbons” Analysis?
-Mrs Cratchit, although poor, represents the family’s will to make the best of things .(celebrate in spite of their poverty).
-The ribbons are her means of dressing more festively. The adjective ‘brave’ suggests that the Cratchit’s approach to life is noble and admirable ,but not easy. -giving them dignity.
“Good as gold” Analysis?
He’s more valuable and important to the crachits than material wealth
Emphesises his good and lovely character- creates sympathy (and sympathy to the struggles of the poor?)
(Tiny Tim is a symbol of hope)
“Still as statues” Analysis?
They are frozen in grief.
-deeply impacted by the loss
(Previously vibrant crating household now quiet and mournful.
-reinforces fully how they value each-other over money- shown in both how they love whole heartedly and grieve wholeheartedly.
