Areas of land permanently covered by ice. They are
covered by glaciers, ice sheets and have frozen soil/rock.The temperature is constantly below freezing.

Distance from the equator
Why is it colder at higher latitude
Temperatures drop due to the curve of the earth being further away to the sun, having to travel through more atmosphere

Why is it colder at higher altitude
The higher you are, the less heat you recieve from the ground.
What is continentality
Distance from the ocean or sea
Why do areas aith high continentality have extreme temperatures
Land takes less time to heat and cool, so it is much hotter in the summer but much colder in winter
