Q

Explain how a beach is formed 1-6 points

A

A beach is formed when there is a buildup of material.
1. The backshore is made up of stone, rocks, broken shells and litter that is carried by the sea.
2. The foreshore is made up of small rocks and sand.
3.Both of these particles are formed by longshore drift.
4. The material is deposited on the shore by constructive waves.
5. When the wave breaks, the water spills onto the shore, leaving material it carries behind.
6. The swash and backwash carry material along in a zigzag movement along the seashore, called longshore drift.
