The brain Flashcards
Cerebrum
It is the largest part of the brain
Cerebral hemisphere
Two equal halves of the brain joined by the corpas callosum
Cerebral cortex
Highly folded part of the brain
Corpas Callosum
It is a nervous tissue that ensures neural coordination between the cerebral hemisphere
the cerebral hemisphere is divided into 4 parts
Frontal lobe
Pariental Lobe
Occipital Lobe
temporal Lobe
Frontal lobe
It is responsible for speech, judgment/decision making and intelligence
Pariental Lobe
It controls touch and taste stimulus
Occipital Lobe
It controls visual stimulus
Temporal Lobe
It is responsible for hearing sound
The forebrain is divided into
Cerebrum, thalamus and hypothalamus
Thalamus
it receives sensory info for other parts of the body and directs them to the brain for processing
Hypothalamus
It is located under the thalamus
It regulates body temperature, hunger, thirst and sex drive.
Mid brain/Pons Varolli
It controls sleep and arousal
The hindbrain contains
Cerebellum and medulla oblangata
Cerebullum
It coordinates body movement and balance
