The book of Job is wisdom literature writing style. Contains what?
Principles of life, shows us the wisdom of God, and western culture doesn’t easily identify with it.
Success mentally and reality. What is the difference?
Success mentally. Pursuit of wealth. Setbacks keeping us from our potential.
Reality. Cinderella fantasy is fake. Difficult circumstances are a key to maturity.
Is it normal for good people to go through difficult times?
Yes. It does not mean that they have sin and that God is resenting them. It means that some good people will go through difficult times. It is the world we live in.
What did Job have to learn?
To see things from God’s perspective
Some scholars suggest that Job never really existed. How does the Bible refer him?
God said he knew who Joe was. Why would God use a mythological character as a reference.
James chapter 5 verse 11 says consider the patience of Job. It addresses the job is a real individual who’s alive, and not as a legend. Because of this, we can now gain valuable insights into whom things take place in their life
Job chapter 1 gives a description of a good man. What does that entail?
God’s servant, none on earth like him, and a man and patriarch. He acted as a priest for his own family.
Nature is evident throughout the book. What does that entail.
Stars, heavens, and mighty creatures.
Satan’s influence in the earth is described. What does that entail?
He goes to and fro searching on the earth for someone to turn away from God
Joe is used as an example of wisdom. What does that entail?
He never gave up and Coast Guard. He had his humanity, but in the end he will be proven and grow in his walk with God
Describe the series of events.
He lost his health, he lost his children, he lost his wealth.
Difficult circumstances can do wet to us?
Erode our attitude and confidence towards God.
Describe retribution principal
Good people prosper and bad people suffer.
Is the retribution principle guaranteed?
No pain. Sewing and reaping can be seen in our lives. Sewing is not guaranteed that we will not experience or suffering. Suffering occurs for different reasons. Send, results of a fallen world, and a Satanic attack.
