The Body Wall Flashcards
Name three muscles part of the rectus sheath
Ext abd oblique, int abd oblique, transverse abdominis
What direction does the ext abd oblique run
Craniodorsal to caudoventral
What direction does int abd oblique
Caudodorsal to cranioventral
What are two nerve supplies to the abdominal muscles
Caudal intercostal nerves, ventral lumbar nerves
What is vascular supply to the abdominal muscles
Cranial and caudal superficial epigastric arteries
Where does the external rectus sheath run
Ventral to rectus abdominis
Where does the internal rectus sheath run
Dorsal to rectus abdominis
What forms the linea alba
The joining of the external and internal rectus sheaths
What is the falciform ligament
A fold of peritoneum between the diaphragm, liver and umbilicus
What makes the rectus sheath
The aponeurosis of the ext. abd. oblique, int. abd. oblique and transverse abdominis
What is the superficial inguinal ring
A hole in the aponeurosis of the EAO
What forms the deep inguinal ring
Intersection of boundaries from IAO, RA and TA
What runs through the inguinal rings
External pudendal arteries and veins, lymphatic vessels and genitofemoral nerves (all external to the vaginal tunic/process)
What are the 3 groups of epaxial muscles from dorsal to ventral
Transversospinalis, longissimus and iliocostalis
What forms the prepubic tendon
Tendons of the RA, pectineus and some from the EAO
