The Body’s Building Blocks Flashcards

Q

What are the body’s building blocks?

A

Cells are extremely complex, come in different forms and have lots of different functions. A group of similar cells gathered together is called a tissue. Bone, muscle and fat are all different types of tissue. Different tissue working together in the same place may form an organ for example the heart, lungs, skin and brain. Several organs can work together in a system such as the digestive, reproductive respiratory and nervous system

A

Everything from reproduction to repairing a broken bone happens down at cell level. All of the work done inside a cell is reliant on enzymes, which are substances that allow the cell to carry out chemical reactions very quickly
